SAD Clause Samples

SAD has similar objectives to the IGAD Livestock Policy Initiative and it is envisaged that significant value can be added to both programmes by sharing experiences. In 2004, the ALive (African Livestock) Partnership was launched under the Aegis of the World Bank. Partners include research and development institutions of African countries, Regional Economic Communities (RECs), donors and other international organizations, including FAO and OIE. Conceived as a platform, it includes: a) a forum to harmonize existing approaches of partners with a view to confirming a shared vision for livestock development in sub-Saharan Africa; b) a support to capacity building and knowledge management at sub-regional level; and c) a support to national livestock strategy and policy formulation fully integrated into the Poverty Reduction Strategy process. It is clearly foreseen that parallel funding of both the SADC programme mentioned above and the IGAD-LPI will be recognized as a contribution to the Alive Partnership.
