Rollers Clause Samples
Rollers. The type of rollers to be used and their relative position in the compaction sequence shall generally be the Contractor’s option, provided the specified densities are attained. An exception shall be that pneumatic tired rollers shall be used for compaction of the wearing course beginning October 1st of any year through March 31st of the following year. Coverage with a steel wheel roller may precede pneumatic tired rolling. Operation of the roller shall be in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations. The use of equipment that results in crushing of the aggregate will not be permitted. Rollers producing pickup, washboard, uneven compaction of the surface, or displacement of the mixture, or other undesirable results shall not be used.
Rollers. Use rollers of carpet, velvet back or high-pile sheep's wool as recommended by the manufacturer for the material and texture required.
Rollers. Rollers of the vibratory, steel wheel, or pneumatic-tired type may be used. They shall be in good condition, capable of operating at slow speeds to avoid displacement of the bituminous mixture. The number, type, and weight of rollers shall be sufficient to compact the mixture to the required density while it is still in a workable condition. The use of equipment which causes excessive crushing of the aggregate will not be permitted.
Rollers. Pneumatic-tied rollers shall be self propelled and meet all requirements of OPSS 304. All tires shall have a minimum inflation pressure of 350 kPa when cold. The contractor shall have a pressure gauge on site at all times.
Rollers. Furnish at least three (3) rollers conforming to the following:
2.1 Self-propelled and in good mechanical condition;
2.2 Capable of initial compaction using an 18-ton single drum vibratory compression-type roller;
2.3 A minimum 14-ton single drum vibratory steel roller; and
2.4 A minimum 18-ton pneumatic tire roller. Along curbs, headers, walls and places not accessible to the roller, compact the Material with approved tampers and compactors.
Rollers. Provide heavy-duty rollers, with steel ball bearings in case-hardened steel races, mounted with varying projections to suit slope of track. Extend roller shaft through both hinges where double hinges are required. Provide roller tires to suit size of track [3-inch (75-mm) diameter for 3-inch (75-mm) track]; and as follows:
1. Case-hardened steel tires for normal installations.
2. Neoprene or bronze tires for hazardous atmospheres.
Rollers. A minimum of two self-propelled pneumatic tire rollers weighting no less than 5 tons or more than 10 tons and consist of 2 axles on which are mounted not less than 9 pneumatic-tired wheels in such manner that the rear group of tires will not follow in the tracks of the forward group. The axles shall be mounted in a rigid frame provided with a loading platform or body suitable for ballast loading. The tires shall be uniformly inflated. If required, one 5-8 ton static steel wheel roller shall be provided.
Rollers. Provide compaction equipment capable of meeting the density requirements. When density testing is not required, and the standard rolling pattern is used, provide a tandem steel-wheeled roller weighing 5 to 15 tons for breakdown rolling. For finish rolling, use a separate roller weighing 5 to 15 tons. Variations from these requirements shall be approved by the Engineer.
Rollers. The Contractor shall use the number, weight and types of rollers as necessary to obtain the required compaction, however, at a minimum, furnish at least three (3) rollers conforming to the following:
3.1 Self-propelled and in good mechanical condition;
3.2 Capable of initial compaction using an 18-ton single drum vibratory compression-type (padfoot) roller;
3.3 A minimum 25-ton single drum vibratory steel roller; and
3.4 A minimum 12-ton pneumatic tire roller. The pneumatic roller shall be fitted with a water spray system and apply light mist to tires while rolling;
3.4.1 All rollers shall be capable of reversing direction without shoving or tearing the mixture.
Rollers. Use a minimum of two 10-16 ton self-propelled pneumatic-tired rollers on the project unless otherwise requested by the Engineer.
