Road Operations. High fatality rates, truck overloading, low revenues from transit charges have been partly due to inadequate road operations and traffic management system. Road operations and traffic management requires reliable and accurate data about all aspects of the road network. Advance information system could be potentially applied to include axle load monitoring and control facilities, road weather information systems, highways advisory radio and electronic signs, and traffic recording equipment. Such system will provide data required by maintenance managers to make the right maintenance decisions to ensure that road restrictions are minimized and costs are low, and also to timely inform road users of road conditions.

Road Operations. The regular work week for an employee shall consist of forty hours per week, to Saturday, at his work site. A one-half hour unpaid lunch period will be provided each day. Two ten minute paid rest breaks will be provided each day. An employee who is transported to and from his work site in a Company vehicle will receive a travel allowance calculated on the following basis: time in excess of half hour travelling the Company’s yard, or a Company designated location, to his work site will be paid at his regular basic hourly rate; and time in excess of half hour travelling from the work site to the Company’s yard, or a Company designated location, will be paid at his regular basic hourly rate. An employee who drives a Company vehicle will be paid from the time he leaves the Company’s yard, or a Company designated location, until he returns to such location each day. An employee shall be paid one and one-half times his regular basic hourly all hours worked in excess of eighty hours in any scheduled two week period, excluding travel time. The Company will continue to to provide for the equitable distribution of overtime assignments amongst the Road Operations employees subject to the requirements of the work concerned. An employee who has completed his shift, left the Company premises and is called to return to work will be paid one and one-half times his regular basic hourly rate for all hours worked. The minimum pay will be two and one-half hours at the one and one-half times premium and the employee must accept alternate work. An employee who presents himself for work and is unable to commence work or is unable to complete his shift for reasons beyond his control, except in cases of machinery breakdown or electrical power failure, shall be paid a minimum of eight hours. To qualify for the above, the employee must remain on the job until told by his supervisor he may leave and must accept other than his normal work if it is offered and must be adequately dressed for the weather to perform the alternate work.

  • Management and Operations 15.1 The Operator shall prepare an annual work programme and budget for each Calendar Year during the term of this Agreement. Each such work programme and budget shall set out in reasonable details, the work to be carried out, facilities to be purchased or created, training and employment programme, establishment, salaries and wages, social welfare schemes to be undertaken, and an estimate of the Expenditure to be incurred. The Operator shall present such work programme and budget to the Government and the Working Interest Owners before the start of each Calendar Year and thereafter provide a quarterly update on the implementation of such work programme and budget.
