Residence contract. 2.1 Contract period Your residence contract is for one-term (four months) and is renewable. The contract generally begins on the first day of the month and ends on the 29th of the month of the contracted term. You are expected to vacate your assigned room and leave residence by 12 noon on the 29th of the month of the contracted term, unless you accept a renewal contract for the consecutive calendar term. 2.2 Renewal of contract Your residence contract is renewable for the next consecutive calendar academic term. Renewal offers are sent out approximately 2-6 weeks after the beginning of a term for the next consecutive term via email.

Residence contract. 2.1 Contract period Subject to Section 2.4 and Section 6.0, a residence contract in the fall term is for two academic terms within the same academic year (fall/winter or fall/spring). In the winter and spring terms, the residence contract period is for one academic term. Your contract begins one day prior to the start of a term and terminates on the day that the academic exam period ends each term. 2.2 Two-term contracts You will be assigned to the same residence room for both terms of your two-term residence contract. If you are in residence in the fall, you will be returning to the same residence facility in the winter. If you are living in residence in the fall and on a co-op work term in the winter, you will be returning to the same residence facility in the spring. Notwithstanding the foregoing, in the event that circumstances change, Campus Housing reserves the right to change your room assignment for the second term of your contract. If you are moved to a different residence facility for at any point of your contract, you must pay the new residence facility fee and/or meal plan charges as applicable. 2.3 Co-op work terms If you are on a winter or spring co-op work term placement, you can apply for a one-term residence contract. You must live in our designated area for co-op work term students, except as otherwise permitted by Campus Housing in writing. 2.4 Winter and spring breaks All undergraduate residences are closed during the University of Waterloo’s winter holiday period and between the winter and spring terms; beginning at 10:00 a.m. the day after the last fall or winter exam and ending the day before winter or spring classes start. During this time, you must make alternative living arrangements and will not be permitted access to any Campus Housing building. The International Student Bridging Program organized by Campus Housing may be a short-term option for study permit students, depending on student eligibility and space availability. This program is a separate agreement outside your residence contract and participation is not guaranteed.

Residence contract. 2.1 IT IS HEREBY AGREED as follows: 'The Premises' means such flat, room or other accommodation as may from time to time be assigned to the Resident. This amount will be returned, subject to any deductions for damages, deficiencies or debts, by the end of June following the academic year in which the occupancy commenced. In addition, the College reserves the right to retain the deposit if, for any reason, the Resident neglects to take up the accommodation by the commencement of the Autumn term. Tenancy Deposit Schemes Safeguarding Tenancy Deposits – A tenancy deposit scheme is a scheme provided by an independent third party to protect deposits until they are due to be repaid. A tenant will pay the deposit to their landlord, as happens now. The landlord is then responsible for ensuring that the deposit is submitted to an approved scheme, where it will be held in a designated account until the deposit is due to be repaid after the end of the tenancy. The scheme which Sabhal Mòr Ostaig currently operates is Safe Deposits Scotland. Sabhal Mòr Ostaig will provide Safe Deposits Scotland with your name, deposit, college email address and tenancy start date. Once Safe Deposits Scotland has received your deposit from Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, you should receive an email from them with any relevant information relating to your deposit.
