Common use of Regular Upgrading Clause in Contracts

Regular Upgrading. Employees upgraded from one wage group to another are to receive a minimum increase of per hour, EXCEPT if the maximum in the next higher wage group is less than the in which case the lesser amount shall apply. When employees are upgraded to fill a regular vacancy in the same job they held previously in a higher wage group, they shall be paid the equivalent of the final rate they received while on the higher job. This does not include rates received while on substitution or temporary transfer, except in cases where a tempo- rary vacancy or temporary job is declared regular and posted for applications, and the successful bidder is the employee who has been filling the temporary vacancy up to that time. In such cases, the employee’s new rate of pay and any further step-rate increases which the employee is subsequently entitled to receive in the new range, will be based on the date the employee last started temporarily on the higher job.
