A proof pressure test clause requires that equipment or components be subjected to a specified pressure level to verify their structural integrity and leak-tightness before being put into service. In practice, this means that pipes, vessels, or other pressure-containing items must be filled with a test medium—often water or air—and pressurized to a level above their normal operating pressure for a set period, with inspections for leaks or failures. The core function of this clause is to ensure safety and reliability by identifying potential weaknesses or defects before the equipment is used in actual operations.
Proof pressure test. The system is pressurized smoothly and continually with a non-corrosive hydraulic fluid until the target test pressure level is reached and then held for the specified time.
