Project Specific Operating Requirements. (i) Timber Salvage. Timber less than five inches in diameter, brush, and slash shall be disposed of so as to minimize the risk of fire and disease. To limit insect infestation, timber more than five inches in diameter shall be decked in areas of the forest with limited sunlight, but not against residual host trees. The log decks should be separated as much as possible from standing trees but also in areas with limited sunlight. Questions should be directed to the Area Forester at 907-451- 2601.
