Physical Safety. Since physical safety of unit members is enhanced when school campuses are kept orderly and well disciplined, the District shall give all reasonable support and assistance to unit members as they attempt to maintain an atmosphere conducive to appropriate discipline on school grounds and in the classroom. Such support shall include:
13.4.1 Whenever a student exhibits serious behavioral problems which disrupt the educational process within the unit member's jurisdiction, the unit member may inform the principal who shall arrange for a conference with the unit member to discuss the problem and to decide upon appropriate steps for its resolution. If necessary, the principal may arrange for an appropriate specialist to attend the meeting.
Physical Safety. 13.2.1 The District agrees to provide disciplinary support to unit members. If a unit member is unable to resolve a student disciplinary problem, the unit member and the principal shall meet to discuss possible alternatives to resolution of this problem.
13.2.2 A unit member may suspend, for good cause, any student from his/her class for the day of the suspension and the day following. The unit member shall report the suspension to his/her principal and send the student to the principal for appropriate action. As soon as possible, the unit member shall ask the parent or guardian of the pupil to attend a parent/teacher conference regarding the suspension. Any student suspended by a unit member shall not be placed in another unit member's classroom, per Education Code Section 48910.
Physical Safety. The safety and security of all parties, including this assessor, is of utmost importance. Interviews shall not be conducted with anyone under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol or with anyone exhibiting threatening or unusual behaviour that may pose harm to themselves, the other parent, or the child. In the event that either party threatens the physical safety of this assessor or the other party, then a referral shall be made to the appropriate police department for further assistance. Harassment or threatening behaviour may be grounds to terminate the assessment process.
