Peer Observers Clause Samples

The Peer Observers clause establishes the right or requirement for designated individuals, often from the same profession or organization, to observe certain activities, processes, or meetings. In practice, this might involve allowing colleagues to attend training sessions, performance reviews, or project meetings as non-participating observers. The core function of this clause is to promote transparency, facilitate knowledge sharing, and provide opportunities for professional development or quality assurance by enabling peers to witness and learn from real-world scenarios.
Peer Observers. 125 peer observers will be provided a stipend, on an annual basis, for peer observations. The peer observers can be either full time faculty or part time Priority Hire List faculty. However, no more than 50 of the stipends will be allocated to part time PHL faculty. By the end of Winter Quarter, the SCCD will determine the distribution to the colleges of the 125 stipends for the following year. The distribution of positions will be proportionate to the number of faculty at each campus, though unfilled peer observer slots can be reallocated to other campuses. By the third week of Spring Quarter, the Vice President for Instruction and the Faculty Senate President(s) will meet to determine the divisional distribution of the peer observers for the following academic year. Unit administrators will notify faculty of the availability of peer observer positions. Full time and priority hire faculty who are interested in serving as Peer Observers should notify their unit administrator within one month of notification of available slots. Peer observers will be selected by the faculty in the division during Spring Quarter, for the following year. Unfilled peer observer positions may be transferred to another division and/or campus as appropriate. Peer observers are required to attend training provided by the Faculty Development Program during Fall Quarter of each year.
Peer Observers. Staff members may request that another member of the staff be part of the observation process, including any house or teacher leader, another administrator, or any qualified staff member, except the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent of Schools. While staff members are encouraged to benefit from the skills and experience of other staff, the use of peer observers is entirely voluntary. It is also understood that information shared between a peer observer (as opposed to a supervisor or administrator) and a staff member will remain confidential and will not be used for evaluation purposes. Peer observation is entirely for instructional enhancement and professional growth.
Peer Observers. The ▇▇▇▇/academic administrator, in consultation with the department chair, will select one faculty member from the list of three (3) to conduct the peer observation. Should none of the faculty members on the list be available to serve, the ▇▇▇▇/academic administrator will work with the faculty member being evaluated to select a different tenured faculty member from within the District.
