Pay for Time Clause Samples

The "Pay for Time" clause establishes that compensation is based on the amount of time worked rather than on the completion of specific tasks or deliverables. Typically, this means that employees, contractors, or service providers are paid hourly, daily, or according to another time-based metric, regardless of the specific outcomes achieved during that period. This approach is commonly used in situations where work hours are tracked and verified, such as consulting, legal services, or temporary staffing. The core function of this clause is to ensure fair and predictable payment for time invested, providing clarity and reducing disputes over compensation when work output may be variable or difficult to measure.
Pay for Time. Whenever the President is required to attend any grievance hearing or negotiating meeting attended by representatives of the Town and the Collective Bargaining Unit, he/she shall be compensated by the Town. The President shall not be paid where the grievance in question involves him/her as a principal, as distinguished from his/her appearing in his/her representative capacity. A President shall be compensated only when his/her attendance is required.
Pay for Time. All employees covered by this Agreement shall be paid for all time spent in the service of the Company. Rates of pay provided for by this Agreement shall be minimums. Time shall be computed from the time that the employee is required to start work or registers in, whichever is later, until he is effectively released from duty. Employees who punch out late even though they were released from duties on time will not receive overtime unless it was previously authorized.
Pay for Time. Whenever the Local Representative is required to attend any grievance hearing or negotiating meeting attended by representatives of the Town and the Union, he/she shall be compensated by the Town. Where the grievance in question involves the Local Representative as a principal, as distinguished from his/her appearing in his/her representative capacity, the Local Representative shall only be paid to the same extent as any other unit member would be paid for participation in the processing of a grievance. A Local Representative shall be compensated only when his/her attendance is required.
Pay for Time. Off On Holiday. Eligible employees receive annual leave pay for scheduled time off for each of the observed holidays (except the Personal Holiday which must be arranged). Annual leave will be paid in relationship to the assigned FTE, except that an employee may select the option of unpaid leave for hours beyond eight (8). Employees that do not have sufficient hours in their annual leave balance will be paid the balance of their hours (not to exceed one full day at their FTE level) or no annual leave payment. Employees that work in departments that close or substantially reduce their staffing on holidays will automatically be paid annual leave if they are normally scheduled, do not work, and have sufficient annual leave hours accrued.
