Patch. An update to an operating system, application, or other software issued specifically to correct particular problems with the software. Patch Management: The systematic notification, identification, deployment, installation, and verification of operating system and application software code revisions. These revisions are known as patches, hot fixes, and service packs. Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard (DSS) Information: PCI DSS applies to the transmission, storage, or processing of confidential credit card data. This data classification includes credit card magnetic stripe data, card verification values, payment account numbers, personally identification numbers, passwords, and card expiration dates. Penetration Testing: A test methodology in which assessors, using all available documentation (e.g., system design, source code, manuals) and working under specific constraints, attempt to circumvent the security features of an information system.
