Common use of Outside Work Assignments Clause in Contracts

Outside Work Assignments. Wherever possible, travel to outside work assignments should take place during regular hours of work. Time spent travelling to outside work assignments which would otherwise result in the payment of overtime pursuant to this article will be compensated at straight time. Time spent travelling includes associated waiting periods but not time in overnight accommodations. Wherever possible, travel to training courses and professional development opportunities should take place during regular hours of work. Where it is not reasonably possible for such travel to take place during regular hours of work and where the Employer provides support to an employee to attend a training course or professional development opportunity, time spent travelling which would otherwise result in the payment of overtime pursuant to this article will be compensated at straight time. For the purpose of this clause, support means either the partial or full payment of registration fees and/or reimbursement of travel expenses and/or accommodation expenses. Time spent travelling includes associated waiting periods but not time in overnight accommodations.
