Oath. Each midshipman who is a citizen of the United States shall take the following oath of office at the Academy: ‘‘I, , having been appointed a mid- ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ to the U.S. Merchant Marine Acad- emy, accept appointment and do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and de- fend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will comply with all the reg- ulations of the U.S. Merchant Marine Acad- emy; that I take this obligation freely, with- out any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter, so help me God.’’
