Net Zero. 5.6.1. Faculty should consider the public sector commitment to move towards a ‘net zero’ carbon footprint by 2040, for the emissions it controls directly, and by 2045 for all other emissions that it can influence. 5.6.2. All suppliers, and individuals working on behalf of NHS England, will therefore need to be able to demonstrate a commitment to, a belief in, and an understanding of, the importance of a ‘Net Zero’ culture within the health and care context. To this end, faculty should be actively engaged in ensuring that, in all aspects of the delivery of their work, they are utilising the most carbon efficient approaches as are possible.

The Governing Body commits to owning, updating, and devoting appropriate resources to the delivery of the Net Zero strategy at 1g in the Strategic Case of the FBC, including: a) Ensuring that transformational growth supported by Solent Freeport is achieved in a way that reduces carbon and adapts to the significant challenges posed by climate change. b) Harnessing the Solent’s unrivalled natural capital to pioneer clean growth technology and adaptation to drive productivity within the Freeport and across the wider region’s business and employment base, and at the same time enhance the quality of local environmental assets for the benefit of our communities. c) Supporting the UK’s Net Zero ambitions through site-specific developments as well as a range of Freeport-wide interventions and initiatives to achieve latest emissions targets including Net Zero by 2050. d) Working with sites and other partners within the outer boundary and across the wider Solent region so that there is a consistent and complementary area-wide approach that ensures alignment with relevant local Net Zero plans and sector specific initiatives, including those agreed with government. e) Be cognisant of sectoral carbon emissions targets and decarbonisation strategies being developed at national level by government in collaboration with industry as part of the wider UK strategy for reducing emissions. 5.3.2. The Governing Body will be supported by BEIS’s Local Net Zero team which will provide a first point of contact and manage support for the delivery of the Freeport’s Net Zero plans. This support may be through ongoing engagement, providing guidance and advice on Net Zero topics and will be either with officials across HMG or through the appropriate Local Net Zero Hub.

The Freeport will identify and trial the potential for connected autonomous vehicles, low-carbon fuels and modal shifts from road to rail freight transportation, leveraging the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇ of vehicle and rail movements already present at the Port of Felixstowe. e) Developing tax sites in alignment with net-zero targets , integrating a range of renewable heat and energy initiatives. 5.3.2. The Governing Body will be supported by BEIS’s Local Net Zero team which will provide a first point of contact and manage support for the delivery of the Freeport’s Net Zero plans. This support may be through ongoing engagement, providing guidance and advice on Net Zero topics and will be either with officials across HMG or through the appropriate Local Net Zero Hub.

EMF commits to owning, updating and devoting appropriate resources to the delivery of the Net Zero strategy at 1g in the Strategic Case of the FBC, including: a) Supporting clean growth and sustainable investment in the wider East Midlands region b) Supporting businesses in the Freeport tax and customs sites to deliver on ambitious emissions targets, ahead of the 2050 Net Zero target pioneered by HMG. c) Supporting regional partners’ proposals for an international decarbonisation centre “ZERO” through strategic and operational collaboration with Freeport partners. d) Undergo an initial baselining exercise, focused upon where applicable identifying HMG-standard 1990-levels of Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions of business sites and infrastructure associated with the tax and customs sites within the Freeport Outer Boundary of within 12 months post-designation and deploying an alternative approach for sites where 1990-level emissions are not applicable. e) Building in checkpoints to assess partners' plans, determine synergies and opportunities to optimise these, and set out an overarching trajectory towards net zero for the Freeport to cover additional reduction options which may be required, particularly where residual emissions are identified. The first of these checkpoints should fall 12 months from operationalisation of the Freeport, as such strategy is updated from time to time by EMF and in consultation with DLUHC. 5.3.2. EMF will be supported by DESNZ’s Local Net Zero team which will provide a first point of contact and manage support for the delivery of the Freeport’s Net Zero plans. Net Zero. Plaid Cymru and the Welsh Government believe we must maximise our progress towards net zero, while ensuring the costs and benefits of doing so must be shared fairly. We will commission independent advice that will examine potential pathways to net zero by 2035 and the impact on society and sectors of our economy and how any adverse effects may be mitigated. We support the devolution of further powers and the accompanying resources that Wales needs to respond most effectively to reaching net zero, specifically the management of the Crown Estate and its assets in Wales.
Net Zero. As long as this JPPA shall remain in effect, DSW will not use Net Zero Funding for DSW’s annual expenses. Provided, that the Parties and DSW and the Parties may re-evaluate the restriction contained in this subsection use Net Zero in the future. Such change shall not require amendment to the JPPA, however, the use of Net Zero Funding for annual expenses shall be included in the oversight processes outlined and required herein.

The emerging framework for the Strategy should set out a practical roadmap to reach Net Zero by 2040. The Strategy will have four pillars - Industrial Decarbonisation, Domestic and Small Business Decarbonisation, Transport Decarbonisation and Natural Capital. The Industrial Decarbonisation pillar is most applicable to Freeport. c) Delivering on the indicative activities set out in the FBC to achieve Net Zero which include a reduction in all local emissions to Net Zero by 2050, with scenario work to be commissioned to calculate the amount of emissions to be reduced by 2030; deliver the UK’s first decarbonised cluster by 2040; deliver large scale Carbon Capture and Storage project by 2030; contributing more hydrogen than the 5KW national target for hydrogen production by 2030, greater than 1GW of blue hydrogen by 2030, Greater than 500MW of green hydrogen by 2035; large scale decarbonisation of Public Transport by 2025, including a fleet of zero emission buses by 2030 and hydrogen trains at the birthplace of the railways; encourage greater levels of active transport; increase available EV charging points; encourage business to adopt new practices improving productivity and profitability; d) Utilising the existing TVCA Innovation Strategy and projects contained within to support the Freeport Net Zero objectives. e) Using Freeport status to accelerate attraction of clean tech and low carbon manufacturing businesses to lead the way for full cluster decarbonisation in the region by 2040. f) Ensuring the Freeport is built on the foundational principles of promoting free and frictionless trade to reduce carbon emissions, as well as using clean growth as a mechanism for green jobs and decarbonisation. g) Utilising the Net Zero Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage Project to provide the infrastructure to capture and store the entire CO2 output of the Tees Valley’s industrial cluster each year and provide tax site investors access to the private wire network and clean energy on site. 5.3.2.
