Monocytes Sample Clauses

Monocytes. Monocytes are mononuclear white blood cells that play a pivotal role in the human adaptive immune response. Monocytes comprise approximately 1-8 % of circulating leucocytes and have a half-life of around 1-3 days, after which they move into tissues and differentiate into macrophages or dendritic cells 170. Monocytes migrate to sites of local inflammation where their roles include phagocytosis and pro- or anti-inflammatory cytokine production.
