MINDFULNESS Clause Samples

MINDFULNESS. Find a positive way to interact with your teachers this week. Send a message of appreciation for their hard work. Get creative and get your classmates involved, like combining video messages. Coordinate with classmates and before class is over, everyone holds up paper with hearts drawn on them and tell your teacher "Thank You!" Let’s give teachers some positive interaction to show our appreciation! I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream... for Logic Puzzles! Place the Ben & ▇▇▇▇▇ offerings in the grid to solve the puzzle. Share with a friend or family member and see if they solve the puzzle quicker than you! Link: ▇▇▇▇▇://▇▇▇.▇▇/3gf8yPV Look at how we interact with space, by virtually touring NASA’s Electric Propulsion and Power Laboratory and the Simulated Lunar Operations Laboratory at the following links: • ▇▇▇▇▇://▇▇▇.▇▇▇▇.▇▇▇/specials/epl360/ • ▇▇▇▇▇://▇▇▇.▇▇▇▇.▇▇▇/specials/slope360/ Click on the tags in the tour to learn more about the features in the lab. What did you notice and wonder about the equipment you saw? What role do you think the US should have in continued space exploration? Justify whether or not we should continue to fund space exploration.
MINDFULNESS. A unique opportunity to work with one of our Learning Mentors on this supportive course which offers strategies and help with exam anxiety, stresses of A-Level life and how to cope with the challenges of being a teenager.
MINDFULNESS. A “mandala” is a circular structure with radial symmetry. It can also be a tool for focusing attention and expressing creativity. Today:
MINDFULNESS. Write the word YET, with your non-dominant hand and your eyes closed. Open your eyes and look at what you wrote. Reflect on how it looks and whether it looks like how it's "supposed" to look. A fixed mindset is the belief that there is one right way to do things and that our abilities are fixed and cannot change. Now adapt or change the drawing into something else while still using your nondominant hand. (ex. - a picture, a different word, abstract art, etc.). • How did you adapt your ‘yet’? • How did adapting your ‘yet’ impact how you felt about the task and about your ‘yet’ creation? This flexible, adaptive thinking is characteristic of a growth mindset; it focuses on effort, flexible thinking and input from others.
MINDFULNESS. In each of these projects, you are being asked to go beyond summarizing and reporting what you found in the reading and in your research. I encourage you to push your thinking in this class by questioning your own assumptions as well as ours (mine and your classmates), and connecting and analyzing the readings in the class in relation to your work. Finally, adopt a habit of mind of positioning yourself in the present moment as you labor for this class. Peer Responses and Assessments: we will make frequent use of this kind of writing/discussion in class. Your work needs to meet the following conditions: Complete and On Time: All peer responses should be complete and submitted on time and in the appropriate way so that your colleagues will get your assessments of their writing the way the class has predetermined. Content: All peer responses should focus their comments on rubrics we develop, following the directions established in class for peer response and our evolving class discussions about them. Our goal in workshops is to help focus and expand our peers’ ideas, not correct their grammar.
MINDFULNESS. According to brain imaging research, practicing mindfulness can alter brain structure that improves reaction to stress. Thickening of the cerebral cortex, which is responsible for perception and reasoning, and blood flow to the brain are both physical changes that occur. Read more about the impact of mindfulness on the structure of the brain at the following website: ▇▇▇▇▇://▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇.▇▇▇/blog/how-meditation-changes- the-brain/ Your school is considering implementing mindfulness lessons. Create an infographic to inform school administrators about the benefits of learning mindfulness strategies. Consider using the link below on Piktocharts to help create the infographic: ▇▇▇▇▇://▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇.▇▇▇/blog/how- to-create-an-infographic-and-other-visual-projects-in-5- minutes/
MINDFULNESS. Practicing mindfulness can help us notice and acknowledge unbalanced feelings without judgment and restore us to a more balanced emotional state. One way to achieve that balance is to "clean house.” Cleaning house means physically clearing your house or room of clutter, but also mentally clearing your mind of thoughts that worry you and are having a negative impact on your life. Look around your room, turn on some quiet music, and quietly organize and declutter to achieve a more balanced space. After you finish, reflect on the stresses that have been weighing on your heart and mind, and write those down. Then symbolically throw them away and let them go. Here are some tips for “MIndfulness for Kids” https:// ▇▇▇.▇▇▇▇▇▇▇.▇▇▇/▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇-▇▇▇-▇▇▇▇/ Balance Puzzles Each of the scales below is balanced – with equal weight on the two sides. Remove as many blocks as possible so that each remains balanced. If the blue ball weighs 12 ounces, how much does each of the other blocks weigh? Similar to a tightrope ▇▇▇▇▇▇ holding a stick to maintain balance, some animal tails serve the same function. The cheetah, kangaroo, and squirrel, among others, use their tails to maintain balance as they run and jump. Humans can have trouble with balance too. Researchers in Japan have created a mechanical tail, modeled after the structure from the tail of a seahorse, to help increase or boost one's sense of balance. Read more about their research and structures of a seahorse tail at these links: • ▇▇▇▇▇://▇▇▇.▇▇/2CeoanA • ▇▇▇▇▇://▇▇▇.▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇.▇▇▇/science-nature/ why-seahorses-have-square-tails-180955802/ Use what you have learned about how tails are an important part of maintaining balance and create your own “TallTale” (or “TallTail”) about a human with a seahorse tail. Remember, aTallTale is a fictional story that exaggerates the truth and is meant to be humorous. Share your story with friends and family.
MINDFULNESS. During 2020 and 2021, the structures or routines in our everyday lives changed dramatically. Getting up, going to school, and eating dinner with family are a few examples of structures that help keep our lives 'normal.' As you reflect on the time spent in distance learning, which structures did you miss the most? What new structures did you develop? Use the link below and other internet resources to explore tips for successful distance learning: ▇▇▇▇▇://▇▇▇.▇▇/3ebTdxf Create an infographic you can give other teens who might be struggling due to the lack of structure while in distance learning. The link below provides guidance on how to construct an infographic: ▇▇▇▇▇://▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇.▇▇▇/formats/infographics/ Looking at the structure of a sequence helps us determine the pattern. What number is missing from this sequence? Explain the pattern. 1, 3, 4, 3, 9, 5, 16, 4, 25, , 36, 3 North Carolina has 100 counties. Each of these has its own county seat, which is considered the governmental center of the county. Some states, however, are not structured into counties. Do other countries have counties? Share this information with others in the format of your choice.
MINDFULNESS. The world has changed and everyone has learned to adapt to a new way of living. Adaptation is not always easy and can often have detrimental effects on students. COVID-19 may have altered your course and many students will need someone to talk to, preferably someone who can empathize with what they are feeling. Create a virtual group for classmates to meet and discuss what they are experiencing. Consider the following questions: • How often will you need to meet? • Who will moderate the group? A teacher? A counselor? • How will you structure rules for sharing and discussing group members' feelings? • How will you provide support to group members? Through encouraging words? Through mindfulness strategies?
