Members’ Promotion. 19.1 Promotion from one Faculty rank to another shall be based upon a Faculty Member’s contribution over a period of time to his discipline or academic field of study, or a contribution to a professional field of practice, program/School/Faculty, and to the University/community, taking into account the criteria and weightings established pursuant to Article 19.2 and the rank descriptions found in Article 17.4. 19.2 Factors to be used in assessing the suitability of a Faculty Member for promotion normally shall include, but are not limited to: a) Teaching: Members’ Rights, Duties and Responsibilities with respect to Teaching are described in Article 23.2. Factors that will be considered for promotion include, but are not limited to: face-to-face and on-line teaching including course design, course revisions and content creation; one-to-one teaching, coaching and supervision; evidence of enhancement and development of scholarly competence and effectiveness as teachers through professional development activities; and contributions to innovation in higher education.
