Managing sub standard performance. Competences shall be withdrawn in any of the following circumstances: • a person is no longer medically fit; • the competence validity has expired; • performance of the person has shown to be sub-standard, indicating that the person is no longer competent; • a change in equipment or procedure results in the competence being different to that required. --`,```,``,,`,``,`,``````,,`-`-`,,`,,`,`,,`--- Where a competence level is revised the individual’s competence records shall be updated on Oracle E-Business Suite and a revised Authority to Work shall be issued. Where the performance of the person is shown to be sub-standard, the line manager shall determine if the competence is still required and if so develop an action plan to restore the competence. In developing the plan consideration shall be given to retraining, mentoring and/or additional supervision requirements. The action plan should take account of factors that can have caused the sub- standard performance such as: • changes in ability or loss of knowledge; • lack of opportunity to practise the competence; • lack of confidence or experience; • lack of willingness; • changes in shift patterns; • lack of concentration; • poor team working; • personal reasons; • poor relationships at work; • change in health and fitness; • omissions or deficiencies in a previous assessment.
