Major Responsibilities. A. Provides support to the Chair as needed in oversight of the day-to-day operations of the department.
B. Serves as a proxy for the Chair in departmental meetings and in representing the department as needed.
C. May supervise staff and part time faculty in the respective department.
D. May represent the Department in both external and internal meetings, with a wide variety of constituencies.
E. Works closely with the Chair and ▇▇▇▇ in developing and administering the departmental Unit Plan and departmental strategic and operational planning.
F. Completes departmental projects as directed by the Department Chair.
G. In conjunction with the Department Chair, provides oversight and support of departmental programs, programming, events and activities.
H. Assists faculty with curriculum development and review.
I. Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Major Responsibilities. A. Oversees the day-to-day operations of the department.
B. Provides supervision and evaluation of departmental faculty and staff, including the recommendation of teaching assignments in collaboration with the faculty member.
Major Responsibilities. A. Recruit new industries that support the clusters identified as high growth, high impact for Durham County, including but not limited to divisional or national headquarters for sectors such as financial services.
B. Help existing businesses expand into Durham County with emphasis on those that support those same clusters.
C. Work with the business development liaison at the Office of Employment and Economic Development representing the Durham Workforce Development Board to communicate the needs of employers in specific economic clusters as appropriate for new and expanding industries and advise these firms of the County’s workforce preparedness.
D. The Chamber shall work cooperatively with the companies expanding in or relocating to Durham County, with Duke University, with NC Central University, and with Durham Technical Community College so that upon graduation students are best prepared to compete for jobs with those expanding and relocating companies.
E. The Chamber will actively work with industries new to Durham County to hire residents of Durham County.
F. Revamp Chamber of Commerce website to provide a more complete portal for data required by site selection consultants considering Durham as a location for companies they represent.
Major Responsibilities. A. Urban Ministries shall provide emergency shelter services to the homeless population of Durham County.
B. Shelter services shall be provided at the Community Shelter located at ▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇ to all persons in need of emergency food, shelter, clothing, and supportive services, except that services may be denied when capacity has been reached for such services at the Community Shelter; and services may be denied to persons who would pose a danger to the staff, or a danger or disruption to the provision of services to others—for example, persons who are under the influence of intoxicants or drugs, or who are or have been threatening to others or have violated the Community Shelter’s reasonable rules for provision of services.
C. Urban Ministries shall begin and proceed in a timely fashion with phases 1a – 1c of proposed upgrades to the UMD facilities (see Attachment 2), and shall include an update on this project to the County in each of its quarterly reports. These upgrades are associated with the services provided hereunder and will enhance the services provided by UMD to the County on a long term basis.
D. Those persons being served by Urban Ministries shall NOT be required to hold any religious belief in order to receive services.
E. No funds provided hereunder shall be used to fund religious worship, instruction, or proselytization. All services funded by the County hereunder shall be secular and Urban Ministries shall have the obligation to ensure compliance with this provision by employees or anyone under Urban Ministries’ control. The failure of Urban Ministries to comply with this provision shall be deemed a material breach of this agreement. City/County Homeless Services Advisory Committee has adopted performance criteria for overall Emergency Shelter performance within our Continuum of Care. The UMD Program Committee agreed in March 2013 to recommend to the board that UMD use these same measures for performance monitoring standards for the coming fiscal year FY13/14. All data will come from CHIN, and the measures are as follows:
A. 30% or more of single adults will exit to permanent housing

Major Responsibilities. A. Analyze programmatic workforce planning needs and make appropriate recommendations to the Department Chair.
B. Recruit, screen, and recommend the hiring of part-time faculty to the Department Chair.
C. Supervises part time faculty as delegated by the Department Chair.
D. Serves as subject matter expert in pedagogical and andragogical methodologies, appraising and evaluating overall instructional effectiveness in all teaching/learning modalities.
E. Provides support to the Department Chair in day-to-day activities, addressing program/department specific matters and concerns, and representing the Chair in meetings as necessary.
F. Actively supports faculty development for both full and part-time personnel, while assisting the Assistant Department Chair, and/or Department Chair in addressing faculty concerns.
G. Actively participates in curriculum development and review, while reviewing and adopting textbooks.
H. Serves as liaison between students and the program/department to address student concerns and guide students on programmatic requirements.
