Lifting Operations. 7.1 Before the Contractor carries out any lifting operation by the use of a machine, he shall produce for inspection by the Trustees:
7.1.1 The appropriate statutory inspection reports/certificate.
7.1.2 Evidence that the operator of any crane or lifting machine is trained and competent.
7.1.3 Detailed information as to the way in which lifting operations are to be carried out and as to the equipment to be used.
7.2 The Contractor must also consult with the Trustees before carrying out any lifting operations with a crane or lifting machine to ensure:
7.2.1 that the ground or place where the crane or lifting machine is standing is suitable and will withstand the weight imposed on it.
7.2.2 That no part of the crane or lifting machine is likely to foul overhead gantries, pipelines, electric lines or adjacent electrical conductors. Careful attention must also be given to the proximity of overhead electrical lines.
Lifting Operations. The Contractor must also consult with the V&A before carrying out any lifting operations with a crane or lifting machine to ensure: that the ground or place where the crane or lifting machine is standing is suitable and will withstand the weight imposed on it. That no part of the crane or lifting machine is likely to foul overhead gantries, pipelines, electric lines or adjacent electrical conductors.
Lifting Operations. All cranes shall have a third party inspection conducted prior to initially starting work. Suspension lifting by heavy equipment [other than cranes] is prohibited, except when an attachment point and /or lifting device designed and engineered for use with a specific piece of heavy equipment is used in conjunction with the applicable load chart. Long and Short-Term Work Planning Subcontractors are required to create a Job Hazard Analysis (▇▇▇) for each major task, hazardous task or non- routine process associated with their work. These documents must be reviewed with the crew before starting work each morning. JHA’s shall be submitted to TRICO’s designated representative. On Work Platforms (e.g. scaffolds), workers must have fall protection that prevents or arrests a fall where they would otherwise be exposed to a fall of greater than six feet (6’). A Work Platform is an elevated platform providing worker access from which tasks (unrelated to the work platform) are carried out. Work Platforms include, but are not limited to all supported and suspended scaffolds, rolling and “▇▇▇▇▇” scaffolds, walkways and bridges between scaffolds, and aerial lifts. No one may work if exposed to a fall of greater than six feet (6’) without fall protection that prevents or arrests a fall, there are no exceptions, including ladders. Subcontractor employees are strictly forbidden to bring firearms on to any TRICO’s jobsite, parking lot or facility. Subcontractor employees are strictly forbidden to build any fires on any TRICO’s jobsite, parking lot or facility.
Lifting Operations. 11.1 Notwithstanding the NSAI CoP IS360:
(a) where the Owner undertakes a site survey/offers guidance or technical information of any nature whatsoever, including but not limited to specifying the appropriate Crane required, the Hirer remains responsible for appointing the Appointed Person (as defined in NSAI CoP IS360, all competent personnel and for compliance with the NSAI CoP IS360;
(b) the Hirer shall be responsible for ensuring that all lifting points and lifting eyes are suitable to withstand the loads imposed on them at all times during the lifting operation. The Hirer, and not the Owner, shall be liable for all loss and/or damage arising from any unsuitability of the lifting points; and
(c) The Hirer shall be responsible for planning, supervising, and controlling lifting operations, including the preparation and distribution of risk assessments, method statements, lift drawings, calculations and plans and the safe slinging of goods to be lifted or handled. Where the Hirer seeks advice from the Owner, any such advice or information is given without responsibility or liability on the part of the Owner and shall in no way relieve the Hirer of his responsibilities.
Lifting Operations. Lifting operations at DEC must be carried out in accordance with Dubai Municipality Technical Guidelines and Local Orders (▇▇▇.▇▇.▇▇▇.▇▇). Lifting operations or equipment includes the use of a crane, lifting equipment for supporting loads, gin wheels, work equipment operating under load, equipment used for raising of a load by persons at height, the suspension of structures or exhibition accessories, and general lifting accessories used in the operation of a work task. All significant lifting must be planned by a competent person. The lifting operation must be suitably supervised by a competent person and carried out in a safe manner. This will include not allowing persons to be underneath a suspended load at any time. All lifting must be carried out using equipment with a sufficient capacity to safely withstand the loadings required of it and be of sufficient stability whilst under load to provide a safe environment. All lifts must also be carried out using equipment designed for lifting; use of rope, wire, cable or other similar products will not be permitted. Lifting equipment used for lifting persons must be subject to regular test and inspection, the certificate for which must be made available upon reasonable request. New equipment less than ‘12 months’ old is acceptable for use though may require proof in the form of a manufacturers certificate detailing the serial number of the accessory or equipment. All safety features of lifting equipment must be in good working order whilst operated at the venue or work must be stopped until the faulty features are suitably repaired. The positioning of lifting equipment and installation shall be suitably planned so as not to endanger persons working or visiting the venue. Where lifting equipment or support structures will be under a significant load during an exhibition/event or conference it should be advised to the organiser, who in turn will advise DEC for approval. Where cranes are fitted with a safe load indicator it must be in operation at all times during work at the venue. Also, cranes must utilise outriggers for lifting operations; any half rigged lifting operations will require permission from DEC prior to the operation. There will be no dual lifting crane or lifting equipment operations under any circumstances.
