Judgment Lien Sample Clauses
A Judgment Lien clause establishes the right of a creditor to place a legal claim on a debtor's property as a result of a court judgment for unpaid debts. This clause typically allows the creditor to record the lien with the appropriate government office, which attaches to real estate or other assets owned by the debtor. The practical effect is that the debtor cannot sell or refinance the encumbered property without first satisfying the judgment, thereby ensuring the creditor has a means to secure and potentially recover the owed amount.
