The core function of this clause is to formalize the interview process, ensuring transparency and fairness in placement decisions.
INTERVIEW FOR PLACEMENT. An employee who has insufficient seniority to bump may elect to be interviewed for another classification they qualify for on or before the effective date of the layoff. A position in that classification must become vacant and be approved to fill during the 60 day layoff notification period.
