Instant Messaging Policy. Instant Messaging (IM) capability is provided through Skype for Business, and it is currently being used as a form of real-time communication with individuals inside the organization. IM technology is meant for the purpose of enhancing employee productivity while conducting City business. However, IM carries some security risks, therefore, some functionality has been turned off by the IT Department. The use of IM is a privilege and its abuse or misuse will not be tolerated. The IT Department manages and may monitor all IM usage to ensure that this policy is adhered to. It is the responsibility of the user to exercise sound judgment and common sense while using IM to fulfill his or her job duties.
