If an event justifying trip cancellation before departure occurs, the insured must notify the Assistor within 48 hours following the occurrence of the eligible event that results in trip cancellation. If the end of the 48-hour period coincides with a statutory holiday, notice may be submitted on the next business day. The Insurer's liability is limited to cancellation costs incurred during the 48 hours following occurrence of the event justifying the trip cancellation, or the next business day if this period coincides with a statutory holiday. A pre-existing health condition may affect the insured's eligibility for travel insurance. An insured having such a condition must ensure before incurring any travel expenses that this pre-existing health condition does not affect eligibility. Trip cancellation insurance eligibility conditions are set out in this section. If in doubt, the insured must contact the Assistor, who can provide information on the insured’s eligibility.
