Immunotherapy. Immunotherapy refers to the treatment of disease by stimulating the body’s own immune system and involves injections over a period of time in order to reduce the potential for allergic reactions. Benefits for immunotherapy include therapy provided to individuals with a demonstrated hypersensitivity that cannot be managed by avoidance or environmental controls. However, certain methods of treatment, which are Investigational, as well as items that are for personal convenience (i.e., pillows, mattress casing, air filter, etc.) are not covered.
Immunotherapy. The term "immunotherapy" shall mean and collectively include those ex vivo therapeutic interventions which result in the activation and/or expression of effector cell function by B lymphocytes, T lymphocytes, NK cells, macrophages, expression of mucosal immunity, and/or passive immunity by which immune agents are generated ex vivo and transferred to a patient.
