Guide Vane Sample Clauses

Guide Vane. The turbine shall be equipped with stainless-steel guide vanes and guide vane stems shall be cast of stainless-steel according to ASTM 743 Grade CA-6NM. The guide vane shall be uniform in shape and their cross section shall be to direct properly and accelerate gradually the water entering to the runner with minimum friction and hydraulic disturbance. Guide vanes shall be accurately machine and ground to a smooth finish and even surface so that all guide vanes shall be replaceable and interchangeable. Guide vanes shall be carefully and precisely fitted along the line of contact during factory assembly within 0 to 0.05mm maximum clearance to ensure minimal leakage against with the head pressure. Guide vane stems and link shall be designed to minimize friction and shall be connected through coupling, link, and lever to the regulating ring. The design shall be such that repairs, and replacement be easily and quickly made with minimum dismantling to the turbine parts. As a precaution against damage when a guide vane is free to rotate due to breakage of a shear pin or link, the guide vane levers shall be restrained from the excessive movement by means of friction device located on the guide vane stem which provides the restraining force between guide vane coupling and lever. The suitable shear pin or breaking link shall be provided between each guide vane stem and the regulating ring shall be strong enough to withstand maximum normal operating forces, but which will break or release on excessive forces acting either opening or closing direction and shall protect the rest of mechanisms from damage in case one or more guide vanes become blocked. The shear pin alarm devices shall be provided for each guide vane and the failure signals shall be sent to Governor PLC Cubicle in event that any one of shear pins fail. Failure to comply with this will subject to rejection of Bid Proposal.
