Generation Maintenance Clause Samples
The Generation Maintenance clause outlines the obligations and procedures for maintaining power generation equipment or facilities. Typically, it specifies the required standards for upkeep, schedules for routine maintenance, and responsibilities for notifying relevant parties about planned outages or repairs. By clearly defining these requirements, the clause ensures reliable operation, minimizes unexpected downtime, and allocates responsibility for maintenance-related risks between the parties.
Generation Maintenance. SPP shall coordinate the maintenance of generating units as appropriate to the extent such generation maintenance directly affects the capacity or reliability of the Electric Transmission System and the generation is located in the SPP Region as follows:
a. SPP shall review planned generating unit maintenance schedules submitted by generation owners for a minimum of a rolling one-year period. The planned maintenance schedules shall be updated daily. SPP shall keep such information confidential.
b. SPP shall analyze a planned generating unit maintenance schedule to determine its effect on available transfer capability, ancillary services, the reliability of the Electric Transmission System, and any other relevant effects. SPP shall inform a generation owner if its maintenance schedule is expected to have an impact on the reliability of the Electric Transmission System.
c. As part of its review process, SPP shall identify generating unit maintenance schedules that limit available transfer capability and shall identify opportunities and associated costs for rescheduling planned maintenance to enhance available transfer capability.
d. A generation owner that changes planned maintenance at the request of SPP pursuant to this Section 2.1.4 shall be compensated in accordance with the SPP OATT.
e. SPP shall be responsible for documenting all planned generating unit maintenance schedules, all schedule changes, and all SPP studies and services performed with respect to planned generation maintenance.
Generation Maintenance. The ITC may assume from the Midwest ISO the coordination of generator maintenance for generators within the ITC with regard to those generators which are required to coordinate maintenance pursuant to Appendix E, Section VII of this Agreement. The ITC shall inform the Midwest ISO of those maintenance activities.
Generation Maintenance. Consumers shall coordinate the maintenance of Generation Resources with Michigan Transco to the extent such generation maintenance affects the capability or reliability of the Transmission System as follows:
6.3.1 Consumers shall submit its planned generating unit maintenance schedules to Michigan Transco annually for a two (2) year period, updated to include changes.
6.3.2 Michigan Transco shall analyze planned generating unit maintenance schedules to determine the effect on Consumers (and other Transmission Customers), ATC, ancillary services, the security of the Transmission System, identification of must-run units, and any other relevant effects. Michigan Transco shall inform Consumers if its generation maintenance schedule is expected to have an impact on the security of the Transmission System.
6.3.3 As part of its review process, Michigan Transco shall identify Generation Resource maintenance schedules that limit ATC and shall recommend opportunities for rescheduling planned maintenance to enhance ATC. If Consumers reschedules maintenance at Michigan Transco's request, Consumers shall be compensated for additional costs associated with rescheduling such planned maintenance pursuant to procedures adopted by Michigan Transco, and applied on a non-discriminatory basis to all similarly situated generation owners located within Michigan Transco's Control Area.
6.3.4 With respect to all Generating Resources connected to the Transmission System, Michigan Transco will enter into interconnection agreements and, if necessary, must-run agreements which define coordinated operations and such other operating requirements as are necessary to ensure the safe and reliable operation of such Generation Resources with the Transmission System.
Generation Maintenance. The FirstEnergy Operating Companies shall coordinate the maintenance of Generating Facilities with ATSI to the extent such generation maintenance affects the transmission capability or transmission reliability of the Transmission System as follows:
1. The FirstEnergy Operating Companies' shall submit their planned generating unit maintenance schedules to ATSI annually for a two year period, updated for changes. A five year ahead schedule shall be submitted bi-annually.
2. ATSI shall analyze planned generating unit maintenance schedules to determine the effect on Transmission Customers, ATC, ancillary services, the security of the Transmission System, identification of must run units, and any other relevant effects. ATSI shall inform the FirstEnergy Operating Companies if its generation maintenance schedule is expected to have an impact on the security of the Transmission System.
3. As part of its review process, ATSI shall identify generating unit maintenance schedules that limit ATC and shall recommend opportunities for rescheduling planned maintenance to enhance ATC. If the FirstEnergy Operating Companies reschedule maintenance at ATSI's request, the FirstEnergy Operating Companies shall be compensated for additional costs associated with rescheduling such planned maintenance pursuant to procedures adopted by ATSI, and applied on a non-discriminatory basis to all similarly situated generation owners.
4. For all generators connected to the Transmission System, ATSI will enter into connection, and if necessary, must run agreements, which define coordinated operations and such other operating requirements as are necessary to ensure the safe and reliable of such generators with the Transmission System.
Generation Maintenance. Detroit Edison shall coordinate the maintenance of Generation Resources with ITC to the extent such generation maintenance affects the capability or reliability of the Transmission System as follows:
6.3.1 Detroit Edison shall submit its planned generating unit maintenance schedules to ITC annually for a two (2) year period, updated to include changes. A five (5) year ahead schedule shall be submitted bi-annually.
6.3.2 ITC shall analyze planned generating unit maintenance schedules to determine the effect on Detroit Edison (and other Transmission Customers), ATC, ancillary services, the security of the Transmission System, identification of must-run units, and any other relevant effects. ITC shall inform Detroit Edison if its generation maintenance schedule is expected to have an impact on the security of the Transmission System.
6.3.3 As part of its review process, ITC shall identify Generation Resource maintenance schedules that limit ATC and shall recommend opportunities for rescheduling planned maintenance to enhance ATC. If Detroit Edison reschedules maintenance at ITC's request, Detroit Edison shall be compensated for additional costs associated with rescheduling such planned maintenance pursuant to procedures adopted by ITC, and applied on a non-discriminatory basis to all similarly situated generation owners located within ITC's Control Area.
6.3.4 With respect to all Generating Resources connected to the Transmission System, ITC will enter into interconnection agreements and, if necessary, must-run agreements which define coordinated operations and such other operating requirements as are necessary to ensure the safe and reliable operation of such Generation Resources with the Transmission System.
