GENERAL TECHNICAL CLAUSES. 3.1 Standards Although American, British or IEC standards for workmanship, material and equipment have been selected in these Specifications as a basis of reference, standards and specifications of other countries and recommendations of other standard international organisations will be acceptable provided they are substantially equivalent to, or higher than, the designated standards and provided furthermore that the Supplier submits for approval details of the specifications heproposes to use. When IEC recommendations or national standards are referred to the Edition shall be that current at the date of Tender, together with any amendments issued to that date. If requested by the Engineer, the Contractor shall supply at his own expense three copies in English and one in the original language of any national standards which are applicable to the Contract.
