Common use of GENERAL CASE Clause in Contracts

GENERAL CASE. (a) If the whole or any part of a provision of this Agreement is or becomes void, unenforceable or illegal or otherwise contravenes any law or statute, it is severed from this Agreement and the remainder of this Agreement continues in full force and effect. (b) If the severance referred to in Clause 20. 1 (a) would alter the basic nature of this Agreement (other than a Party's right to information), this Agreement will be deemed to have terminated on the date upon which the Parties first become aware of the provision being void, unenforceable or illegal or otherwise contravening any law or statute.
