Focus Groups. To gain insight into the needs and perceptions of sub-populations in the Parkview Health System (Parkview) area, focus groups were conducted in Allen, Noble, and Kosciusko Counties. Focus groups are a data collection technique that capitalizes on group interactions to provide qualitative information on a range of topics and in various research fields [1]. Our objective was to receive input from populations underrepresented in the telephone survey on health risks and concerns in their communities. Altogether, three focus groups were arranged by Parkview: one with African American participants in Xxxxx County, one with Hispanic participants in Noble County, and one with Hispanic participants in Kosciusko County. Only one participant attended the Kosciusko focus group so an interview was conducted. His responses to questions mirrored those of the Noble County group. Each focus group was audio-taped and an assistant moderator took notes. The following is a summary of the risks to health, greatest health concerns, and the gaps and strengths of health services in the community. African American Community The health risks identified by focus group participants in Xxxxx County include: poor diet, lack of exercise, substance use, mental health issues, poor prenatal care, limited accessibility to grocery stores with healthy options, and little knowledge of preventive care. The group believe that while there are some services available to address these concerns, the information is not getting to the population with the greatest need, “so, I think the people you most want to help are the people least likely to attend.” It is “an unfortunate truth of the black community that we won’t move unless there’s a lure.” Community days are frequently held in the county, however without an incentive to go to a screening or sign up for resources, residents are unlikely to participate. Additionally, a grass roots organization, “meet people where they are at”, is the best way to reach those individuals. Poor dietary habits is viewed as a major contributor to health risks. Certain areas do not have healthy food grocery stores and as a result, too many individuals resort to “junk food” obtained at service stations to replace fresh fruits and vegetables. Cooking dinner for the family is on the decrease, often because of busy lives or parents are tired after working all day. While meals prepared at home is preferable to unhealthy options at the 7-11, many packaged foods are high in sod...

Focus Groups. The State will annually conduct four focus groups with enrolled populations identified by the State and communicated in writing to the contractor. Objectives for the focus groups will be collaboratively developed by the State and the contractor. For the first contract year, two focus groups each will be conducted with enrollees who have communication-affecting disorders and with enrollees who are elderly. Focus group results will be reported by the State. The contractor shall identify opportunities for improvement identified through the focus groups, specify additional measurement or intervention efforts developed to address the opportunities for improvement, and a timeline, subject to State approval, indicating when such activities will be completed. A status report on the additional measurement or intervention efforts shall be submitted annually to the State by a date specified by DMAHS.

Focus Groups. Following the 1995 elections, NDI conducted a series of focus groups on popular political perceptions aimed at helping Guatemalan civic and political leaders increase citizen participation between elections. A report of the findings concluded that Guatemalan citizens lack faith in their political party leaders and that parties have one of the most negative images of any institution in society. Citizens characterized the parties, especially party leaders, as corrupt and misleading.21 This report contributed to the development of a political party renewal program to address the issues that emerged.
Focus Groups. To coordinate EPOS interactions with selected key initiatives including GEO and the ENVRI community, a suite of dedicated focus groups will be established. These focus groups will ensure that the extended EPOS community has a common approach to engagement with these initiatives to encourage efficient use of resources, and create a common understanding and awareness of the different touch points between the EPOS XXXX members, the EPOS-SP beneficiaries and these selected key initiatives. These focus groups will also ensure there are planned interactions and coordinated participation at relevant meetings and similar events, including having a designated and recognised EPOS representative who acts as a contact point between EPOS and each key initiative.

Immediately after a CM is on board, the CM should be integrated into Focus Groups to provide real time constructability, cost and schedule inputs.

Focus Groups. A minimum of (6) focus groups consisting of stakeholders from the underrepresented census tracts in the Engagement Area will be conducted throughout the Project. Focus Groups will elevate people’s concerns and thoughts regarding community resilience and methods of engagement to help guide the sea level rise planning process. The Project Team will engage a professional communications consultant to help conduct the focus groups. Initial focus groups identifying community values, inclinations, and educational needs on key project topics will be led by MCM. Later focus groups on the draft feasibility study and housing security in relationship with climate adaptation will be led by Canal Alliance. Focus group participants will be carefully chosen to ensure representation from residents that might not otherwise be easily engaged as identified through the stakeholder mapping process.
Focus Groups. Three focus groups, one in Malta, one in Barcelona and a third one in Sweden were held in October-December 2014. Three project partners were in charge of the focus group, respectively University of Malta, Coventry University and National Archives of Sweden, with the overarching leader and organizer being the University of Malta. The participants in the focus group held in Malta consisted of policy makers and cultural heritage managers, Barcelona’s group was made up of citizen scientists, while the members in Sweden where activists. The aim of the focus groups was to analyse the participants’ views on the potential strength of the citizen scientists and collect their feedback. The focus group protocol (Annex 2) is divided into various sections, each designed to delve deeper into the issue discussed. The protocol for this study also included questionnaires; their analysis in comparison with the online questionnaire for cultural heritage professionals will be addressed in D2.2.

The results of the focus groups will help inform the Discussion (first) Draft of the EOA, especially in terms of which issues to address, evaluation factors, and a preferred scenario.
