The FDOT Driveway Connection Permit clause establishes the requirement for obtaining official approval from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) before constructing or modifying any driveway that connects to a state highway. In practice, this means that property owners or developers must submit detailed plans and receive a permit from FDOT to ensure the driveway design meets safety and traffic flow standards. This clause ensures that all driveway connections are properly regulated, helping to maintain roadway safety and efficient traffic movement on state highways.
FDOT Driveway Connection Permit. One permit application will be prepared and submitted to FDOT related to geometric modifications proposed at the intersection of CR 229 & SR 44.

1) The ENGINEER will prepare for and attend a pre-application meeting with FDOT staff to review the scope of the project.
2) A traffic operational analysis will be performed to support the driveway connection permit application.
3) A Stage 1 Intersection Control Evaluation (ICE) will be performed to provide input to FDOT on the ultimate recommended configuration of the intersection, which is currently planned to be a roundabout to be constructed with the US 301 widening project by FDOT. The Stage 1 ICE will include use of the CAP-X and SPICE tools published by FDOT. This Scope of Services assumes that a Stage 1 ICE evaluation will be sufficient for the FDOT permitting. If FDOT requires a Stage 2 or Stage 3 ICE evaluation after permit submittal, these evaluations can be performed as an additional service.
4) This Scope of Services assumes that the ICE analysis will be utilized by FDOT to confirm their planned roundabout control at the intersection. It is assumed that a future roundabout will be constructed by FDOT and that the scope of work at the intersection for this Project will be limited to construction of a northbound left-turn deceleration lane and a southbound right-turn deceleration lane, with stop-control operation for eastbound CR 525E.
