Experience Credits. 44.01 Subject to (d) below, an employee on appointment shall be paid for experience as follows:
Experience Credits. The completion of each year of full-time teaching experience with the College is worth five (5) salary credits. Faculty members who teach in an instructional program which is continuous through a period greater than three (3) academic quarters and requires the same level of effort by students and faculty during the period of the extended contract as during the regular year will earn additional salary credits. These salary credits will be prorated over 177 days.

Classification on the salary schedule for experience shall be in accordance with SPI rules applicable to the state’s salary allocation model (XXX) in effect for the 2017-18 school year. Experience Credits. Credit shall be given for each full-time equivalent (1.0) year of teaching experience to the nearest tenth (.1) of a year. Employees shall receive a full year of experience credit for any year in which the employee is issued a .80 FTE certificated employment contract and the employee works a minimum of one hundred forty four (144) of the one hundred eighty (180) student instructional dates. Experience for occupational/physical therapists and speech/language pathologists shall include work experience in their specialized area outside of education. New employees who transfer from other districts within the state shall be granted similar experience credit as bargaining unit members who have the same total years of service. New employees will be granted experience credit for services provided as substitute teacher for a school district, provided that documentation of such service is provided within thirty (30) days of the first day in the assignment. Employees shall receive a full year of experience credit for any year in which the employee works a minimum of one hundred and forty-four (144) days as a substitute. Employees shall receive a partial year of experience for any year in which the employee works less than one hundred forty-four (144) days as a substitute, calculated by dividing the number of substitute days by one hundred eighty (180). Experience credits recognized and granted by the District prior to the effective date of this Agreement shall be grandfathered. Professional education experience granted prior to September 1, 1983, on a basis other than provided by this paragraph, shall be retained for the purpose of calculating annual salary.

Experience Credits. Full credit shall be granted for all previous public school teaching experience within the State of Washington. In addition, beginning with the ratification of this Agreement, the State LEAP criteria shall serve as determiner for acceptance of other experience toward placement on the salary schedule for all experience brought to the District. If such experience is paid by LEAP to the District it shall be accepted and paid locally. If such experience is not paid by LEAP it shall not be accepted or paid locally. It is the sole responsibility of the Employee to provide verification of experience.
