Common use of Domain 4 Clause in Contracts

Domain 4. Safeguarding people whose circumstances make them vulnerable and protecting them from avoidable harm This domain covers the fundamentals of the social care system – keeping vulnerable people safe. Although there is a safety net within the registration and inspection system there is a wider aspiration of protecting from avoidable harm and caring for individuals in a safe and sensitive environment that respects their needs and choices. In terms of safety, other than numeric measurements, it is difficult to qualitatively or quantitatively measure events that have not happened. It is recognised more work will need to be done on considering measures for this domain. As with Children’s services, safeguarding is in issue for all partners.
