Dock Trials Clause Samples
The Dock Trials clause outlines the procedures and requirements for testing a vessel's systems and performance while the vessel is still docked. Typically, this clause specifies the types of tests to be conducted, such as checking propulsion, electrical, and safety systems, and may detail the roles of the shipbuilder, owner, and surveyors during these trials. Its core function is to ensure that the vessel meets contractual and regulatory standards before proceeding to sea trials or delivery, thereby identifying and addressing any issues early in the process.
Dock Trials. The purpose of this trial is to conduct preliminary tests necessary to ensure that the ship is ready for operating at sea. Ship's personnel will conduct all tests and perform all operational functions; however, Contractor personnel will observe tests, record data, and make minor repairs and adjustments as necessary. The dock trial shall be scheduled in accordance with Work Item *. Contractor personnel are not to interfere with functions of ship's personnel.
Dock Trials. The BUILDER shall submit a test agenda for the dock trials and include a description and schedule of the tests to be performed. The agenda shall be submitted to OC SAN for approval at least 14 working days in advance of the start of the dock trials. Complete dockside tests of all machinery and electrical equipment and installations shall be made. These tests shall include, but not be limited to: • Controls for the propulsion system. • Steering gear and controls. • Fire extinguisher release, including engine shutdown and ventilation. • Electrical system tests, including outlets, lights, and circuit breakers. • Computers, navigation, networking equipment. • Galley equipment. • Communication systems. • Anchor winch and load tests. • Bow thruster. • Deck crane operation and load test. • Shore power system. • Wastewater systems • A-frame operation and load test • Tow winch operation and load test • Live wire winch operation and load test All systems must be tested and proven operational prior to embarking on sea trials.
Dock Trials. Sea Trials
Dock Trials. Dock trials are to be made at the builder’s yard to check the operation of all machinery. Propulsion machinery, control systems, piping systems, etc. are to be thoroughly tested. Necessary gauges and thermometers are to be in place for trials. Defects are to be remedied by the builder before trials and delivery of the vessel. The owner or his representative shall be notified at least two (2) weeks prior to dock trials.
Dock Trials. Upon completion of the Work on the Vessel, Builder shall launch, commission, and conduct Dock Trials of the Vessel at Builder’s cost and expense to demonstrate that the Work and all the Vessel’s machinery, equipment and systems operate in accordance with the Contract Documents.
