Common use of Detention Clause Clause in Contracts

Detention Clause. Should the vessel be seized or detained by any authority, or arrested at the suit of any party having or purporting to have a claim against any interest in the vessel, hire shall not be payable in respect of any period during which the vessel is not fully at Charterer’s use and all extra expenses shall be for the Owner’s account, unless such seizure or detention is occasioned by any personal act or omission or default of the Charterers or their agents, or by reason of cargo carried.
