Designated Player Clause Samples
The Designated Player clause establishes a specific category for players who are exempt from certain standard roster or salary cap restrictions within a sports league. Typically, this allows a team to sign one or more high-profile players whose compensation exceeds the usual limits, without those salaries fully counting against the team's cap. This clause enables teams to attract and retain star talent, enhancing the league's competitiveness and marketability while maintaining overall financial controls.
