It is hereby agreed by and between the Xxxx Oaks Community College Board of Trustees and the Xxxx Oaks Support Staff Employees SMEA that the Collective Bargaining Agreement establishes the minimum guidelines for establishing a XXXXX member’s hourly pay rate and that the Employer is entitled to augment the hourly pay rate as outlined in the Degree Completion Program at their sole and exclusive discretion. Degree Completion. If you become degree complete* while in residence, you are required to connect with your Residence Life Co-ordinator; you will be allowed to remain in residence for the remainder of the current term that you become degree complete in. Any contracts for future terms will be cancelled. For example, if you completed your degree requirements on January 17 you would be permitted to remain in residence until the last day of your winter term contract. If you completed your degree requirements on April 2, you would be permitted to remain in residence until the last day of your winter term contract and additionally, your spring term contract, if you have one, would be cancelled. Please reach out to your Residence Life Co-ordinator to communicate your intention to continue living in residence. *Degree completion is not the same as degree conferral. Eligibility will be determined based on the date that is reflected on Quest confirming that all degree requirements were completed. This date can often be well in advance of the conferral of your degree (i.e., Convocation).
Degree Completion. This type of contract is issued to a faculty member at the rank of Instructor Assistant Professor to a faculty member who is actively pursuing completing a relevant terminal degree. The initial letter of appointment shall specify a date by which the terminal degree shall be completed. The degree completion contract is a one-year, non- renewable contract that may be renewed one time. The contract will be renewed annually, pending satisfactory progress toward the completion of the degree as determined by the chair and with the approval of the xxxx and the xxxxxxx. Upon completion of the degree, the faculty member shall be assigned the rank of Assistant Professor and issued a probationary contract beginning the following academic year term. At the request of the faculty member and with the recommendation of the cChair and the dDean, and the approval of the pProvost, the faculty member will may be given up to three two years credit toward tenure/promotion Tenure with Promotion to Associate Professor but in no case will the faculty member be given credit for more years than she/he has held a Degree Completion Contract. For faculty hired prior to August 2017, the 2017-2018 academic year shall count as their first Degree Completion contract under this paragraph.
