The Data Sanitization Services clause outlines the obligations and procedures for securely erasing or destroying data to prevent unauthorized access or recovery. Typically, this clause specifies the standards or methods to be used for data deletion, such as physical destruction of storage media or certified software-based wiping, and may require documentation or certification of completion. Data Sanitization Services. Where Customer has placed a request or opted for Lenovo to pick-up and sanitize data from Device, and for Devices that will be reconditioned, Lenovo shall: (i) perform “Data Sanitization” (the process of irreversibly removing or destroying data stored on a memory device (hard drives, flash memory / SSDs, mobile devices, CDs, and DVDs, etc.) or in hard copy form) in alignment with the National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) SP800-88 clearing standards; and (ii) provide a certificate of data destruction with respect to such Devices.
