The Dance Captain clause designates a specific individual responsible for overseeing the rehearsal and maintenance of choreography within a production. DANCE CAPTAIN. A dancer who performs with the Corps Dancers and is responsible for knowing the choreography, and who is prepared to coach and rehearse Corps Dancers (in a group or individually) with or without the overseeing of a REHEARSAL DIRECTOR, or a CHOREOGRAPHER.
DANCE CAPTAIN. (A) When there is choreography and/or musical staging in a musical production, a Dance Captain shall be required and paid from the first day of assignment (i.e., first day of employment as Dance Captain) but in no event later than the first day of rehearsal. If the Choreographer is in the production and serving as Dance Captain, the increment shall be paid as of the first paid public performance.
(B) In a dramatic production, when there is movement of such a nature that the maintenance of the musical staging does not fall within the normal duties of a Stage Manager or a member of the Theatre’s artistic staff, a Dance Captain shall be assigned and paid from the first day of musical staging.
(C) An Actor performing the services of Dance Captain shall be paid no less than 20% of category minimum for musical productions and 12% of category minimum for dramatic productions in addition to the Actor’s weekly contractual salary. Provision for payment shall be included in a rider to the Dance Captain’s contract.
(D) The Dance Captain, if known at the time of printing, shall be listed on the cast list page (see Rule 48(B)).
(E) The Dance Captain’s hours may not exceed those set forth in Rule 37(F), Workweek. (F) The Stage Manager is prohibited from functioning as Dance Captain.
DANCE CAPTAIN. (A) A Dance Captain must be hired where there is movement of such a nature that the maintenance of its artistic quality, as originally staged, does not fall within the normal duties of a Stage Manager. The Stage Manager shall not serve as Dance Captain.
(B) Dance Captains shall be paid not less than 20% of actor minimum salary (as stated in Rule 63(A)) per week in addition to their weekly contractual salary and may, as a condition of employment, upon payment of the additional compensation stated in 12(C), 12(D) or 16(H), sign a Six-Month Rider, One-Year Rider or Term Contract which shall begin on the date of the first paid public performance. (See Appendix A for compensation chart.)
(C) The Dance Captain shall be paid from the date of assignment or first day of employment, but in no event later than the first day of rehearsal. The Dance Captain designation may be reassigned and the increment deleted within four weeks of Dance Captain's first paid public performance unless they are signed to a Term Contract. Following the first four weeks of Dance Captain’s first paid public performance, upon two weeks’ advance notice to the Dance Captain, the Dance Captain may be reassigned and the increment deleted, provided that Dance Captain receives one week of the Dance Captain increment for each five weeks' employment as a Dance Captain, up to a maximum payment of 15 weeks of the Dance Captain increment, plus one additional week of the Dance Captain increment for each six months of employment or part thereof as a Dance Captain thereafter. In no event will the payment be less than two weeks of the applicable Dance Captain increment. There will be no hiatus between Dance Captain assignments.
(D) After Official Opening at Point of Organization or first paid public performance on Tour, rehearsal hours for Dance Captain(s) shall be limited to 12 hours per week.
(E) The Producer, at its sole option, may designate an Assistant Dance Captain for an additional payment of not less than 10% of actor minimum salary (as stated in Rule 63(A)) per week in addition to said Assistant's weekly contractual salary. DANCE CAPTAIN. A SOLO DANCER or CORPS DANCER who performs in the production and is responsible for knowing the choreography, and who is prepared to coach and rehearse all dance sequences of the production (in a group or individually) with or without the overseeing of the CHOREOGRAPHER and/or ASSISTANT CHOREOGRAPHER.
DANCE CAPTAIN. (A) Whenever there is musical staging and/or choreography in a musical production, a Dance Captain shall be assigned not later than the third day of rehearsal. The Dance Captain shall be paid no less than 20% of Actor minimum salary in addition to weekly contractual salary.
(B) In a dramatic production, when there is movement of such a nature that the maintenance of the musical staging does not fall within the normal duties of a Stage Manager or a member of the University/Theatre’s artistic staff, a Dance Captain shall be assigned not later than the third day of rehearsal. The Dance Captain shall be paid no less than 20% of Actor minimum salary in addition to weekly contractual salary.
(C) The Stage Manager shall not serve as Dance Captain.
(D) The Dance Captain’s rehearsal hours shall not exceed the maximum number of hours set forth in Rule 52, REHEARSAL, PERFORMANCE AND OTHER WORK-RELATED RULES without incurring overtime.
DANCE CAPTAIN. 1. A CHOREOGRAPHER or DANCE DIRECTOR shall be present at all rehearsals and performances. If the CHOREOGRAPHER and/or DANCE DIRECTOR are not present during performances, MANAGEMENT will designate a DANCER engaged for the production as the DANCE CAPTAIN for the production.
2. The DANCE CAPTAIN shall receive in addition to their per performance and hourly rehearsal compensation otherwise due for the production, five (5) additional hours of rehearsal pay for the production.
DANCE CAPTAIN. (A) Whenever a production has choreography and/or musical staging, a qualified Dance Captain shall be assigned from among the Equity Company and so designated by a rider to the Actor's contract. The Dance Captain shall be paid from the first day of assignment or first day of employment, but in no event later than the first day of rehearsal, no less than 20% of the applicable Category minimum Actor salary, in addition to weekly salary: Rates effective 8/7/17 Rates effective 6/4/18
(B) The Stage Manager shall not function as Dance Captain.
(C) After the first public performance, rehearsal hours for the Dance Captain shall be limited to the hours specified in Rule 52(J).
DANCE CAPTAIN. 9.3.1 The Dance Captain shall receive a negotiable sum which, in the case of musicals, 9 shall not be less than £85.90 per Week, in addition to Salary.
9.3.2 The Dance Captain shall be responsible for the standard of dance of the Ensemble as required by the Manager and may be required to oversee rehearsals or replacement routines, warm-ups or classes as called by the Manager.
9.3.3 If the Dance Captain is required to attend Calls in addition to those which he would attend for his Performer responsibilities, then such additional Calls shall be paid as Overtime unless the Dance Captain receives more than the minimum additional payment set out in clause 9.3.1 in which case no Overtime payment shall apply.

(ii) contract an Artist as Dance Captain during the rehearsal period, provided such duties are negotiated and attached as a rider to the contract. A Dance Captain shall be free to negotiate remuneration above the minimums in Clause 13:09 as appropriate to the work required and acceptable to the Artist, which shall not be less than the additional duties rate as provided for in Clause 13:05; and/or
(iii) a Dance Captain shall work in consultation and cooperation with the Stage Manager and shall not usurp or override the Stage Manager's authority.
