Curricular. The Board recognizes and appreciates the efforts of its teachers in providing extra-curricular activities for students. The Board believes that extra-curricular activities should remain voluntary and has no intention to treat them otherwise. Dated this 30th day of May, 2009. If the Board establishes an Accommodation Review Committee for the purpose of considering the possible closure of one or more elementary schools, the parties shall form a committee composed of two representatives from each party to develop a procedure for the allocation of the affected Teachers in the event a school closes. The parties agree to the following steps for the implementation of the PDT agreement:
Curricular. Extra curricular activities means student-related athletic, social, recreational and cultural activities, occurring outside the normal school day, but does not include activities related to academic or instructional matters or curriculum subjects outside the normal school day, whether such occur alone or with students, parents or administrative staff, such as (without limitation) staff meetings, meetings, committee work, in- service sessions, marking and setting examinations, or marking school assignments. Where a teacher participates in extra curricular activities for hours or more in any given school year he or she shall be granted one day of extra curricular leave. This time must be used no later than the end of the following school year. Extra curricular leave days gained under this section are limited to one day per school year.
