Cultural diffusion Sample Clauses

Cultural diffusion. Cultural diffusion models capture the spread of ideas and beliefs (i.e. culture) throughout a population. In [▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, 1997] the author proposes a model of cultural diffusion based on local interaction. A population of agents are arrayed on a 2-D lattice. Every agent has a certain set of beliefs which are modeled as a set of variables that can take on some value from a finite set. Agents can interact with neighbors who are similar to them, similar to the bounded confidence models described above. In an interaction the agents randomly modify one variable to match. [▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, 1997] studied situations in which multiple groups of homogeneous agents existed side by side.
