Consultancy assignment background Sample Clauses

The 'Consultancy assignment background' clause defines the context and purpose of the consultancy engagement between the parties. It typically outlines the background circumstances, such as the client's need for specific expertise and the consultant's qualifications or experience relevant to the assignment. By establishing this context, the clause ensures both parties have a shared understanding of the reasons for the consultancy, which helps clarify expectations and supports the interpretation of the agreement's terms.
Consultancy assignment background. The Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC) is the world’s authoritative source of data and analysis on internal displacement. Since our establishment in 1998 as part of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC/IDMC), we offer a rigorous, transparent and independent service to the international community, and inform policy and operational decisions to improve the lives of people living in, or at risk of, internal displacement. With a team of around 35 people in Geneva and an annual budget of over 6 million USD, we monitor all countries in the world for which we provide verified, consolidated and multi-sourced estimates of the number of people internally displaced or at risk of becoming displaced by conflict, violence, and disasters. We complement this global data with interdisciplinary research into the drivers, patterns and impacts of internal displacement. Using this evidence, we provide tailor-made advice and support to inform global, regional and national policy-making. Our data and evidence are published on our website and via our Global Internal Displacement Database. Our flagship report, the Global Report on Internal Displacement published every year in May, is the world reference on IDP statistics, featuring trends and thematic analyses, country and regional spotlights. IDMC is now looking to establish a roster of monitoring consultants on framework agreements under which to issue future consultancy assignments on an ad-hoc basis. Detailed deliverables and timelines will be clearly defined in the specific terms of reference for each consultancy assignment, to be provided by IDMC. The establishment of a framework agreement with NRC Geneva/IDMC does not constitute a guarantee of work. The consultants will support the Global Monitoring Team to facilitate daily monitoring and verification of data. The team monitors internal displacement events linked to conflict, violence and disasters and is responsible for providing reliable internal displacement estimates and additional analysis on displacement trends and patterns in the world.
