Consent to Medical Examination or Treatment. Consent to the medical examination or treatment of any Trainee in custody at the Secure Training Centre must be obtained prior to the commencement of such examination or treatment. The medical practitioner in attendance at the Secure Training Centre will decide whether a Trainee is capable of giving his/her consent to such examination or treatment. If the doctor decides that the Trainee is not capable of giving his/her consent to such examination or treatment, the consent of his/her family/carer must be obtained prior to the commencement of such examination or treatment. Trainees aged 16 plus may give their own consent to medical treatment. Where the Trainee is a child in care, the relevant Local Authority must be consulted as to whether the parents or the Local Authority will give consent to examination / treatment. 4 months prior to the Further Scheduled Opening Date, the Contractor will submit to the Authority for its approval a copy of the procedures which staff at the Secure Training Centre will follow in relation to obtaining consent to the medical examination or treatment of any Trainee in custody at the Secure Training Centre from the Trainee or his/her parents/carer without delay or confusion.
