Concrete Block. 1) The building exterior walls are constructed of integrally colored architectural concrete block (rock face and burnished) with colored mortar. 2) Exterior masonry walls shall be insulated with 2” of foil-faced expanded polystyrene insulation. 3) Concrete block walls are constructed with bond beams and reinforcing as required by the final structural design. 4) Sealed control joints are provided at masonry walls for control of thermal and structural movement. 5) Flashings and weeps are provided at exterior walls as required for control of water infiltration. 6) Architectural masonry has a clear coat sealer.
Concrete Block. When used for a facade facing Riverfront Boulevard, concrete blocks shall be split, precision, rock- or ground-faced, or similar material. Standard CMU shall not be used. If precision block is used, it shall be detailed with masonry, metal or other appropriate materials on the same wall surface. To add visual interest, the use of specialized textures and/or colors used effectively with other building materials and details is encouraged.
Concrete Block. Substrate shall be cleaned of dust, oils, and other substances that might reduce adhesion of the finish material.
