COLIFORM BACTERIA. Coliform organisms are derived from soil, decaying vegetation and the waste of man and other warm blooded animals. One type of coliform organism known as Escherichia coli or E Coli is found exclusively in the excreta of warm-blooded animals. It is a reliable indicator of faecal contamination in water.
