CABLE TERMINATIONS. All cables shall enter boxes and kiosks at the base. Conduits shall not be run at or below ground level, but shall wherever practicable enter boxes or kiosks near the base. Plates for supporting cable glands shall be at least 450 mm above ground level. Cable glands and conduits shall project at least 20 mm above the gland plate to prevent any moisture on the plate draining into cable crutches or conduits. Means shall be provided to drain water off the surface of the gland plate. The back, sides and front of the box or kiosk shall project at least 50 mm below the gland plate to prevent moisture draining on the plate and cable glands.
CABLE TERMINATIONS. Terminations for armoured cables shall comprise compression type glands with armour and bonding clamps to meet the requirements of Type E1 to BS 6121 or equivalent and shall be designed to secure the armour wires, to provide electrical continuity between the armour and the threaded fixing component of the gland and to provide watertight seals between the cable outer sheath and gland and between the inner sheath and threaded fixing component. The glands shall project at least 10mm above the gland plate to avoid moisture collecting in the cable crutch. Shrouds shall be fitted to cable glands where exposed. Earth bond terminal attachments shall be provided. Terminations for non-armoured cables shall comprise compression type glands where the function of the gland is to secure the outer sheath of the cable, in accordance with the requirements of Type A2 to BS 6121 or equivalent. A watertight seal shall be provided between the outer sheath and the gland. Explosion proof copper cable gland shall be used at hazardous location and be referred to IEC 60079 standard. Conductors shall not be wrapped around stud terminals. Only one (1) cable shall be terminated in each gland. Cable cores shall be coloured in accordance with IEC 60364.
CABLE TERMINATIONS. TANK CONTRACTOR shall utilize a PURCHASER approved cable termination schedule that uses the assigned unique identification number to each cable and corresponds to design drawings. The schedule shall include information such as material size and type, cable end location (equipment, instrument number, etc.). • Cable splices shall only be permitted at locations specifically approved by PURCHASER. • TANK CONTRACTOR test methods, requirements and acceptance criteria not specified in Project specifications, codes or standards shall be submitted to PURCHASER for review and approval prior to implementation. • TANK CONTRACTOR shall only perform electrical testing on components, other than cables, that have been released by PURCHASER.
