Cable Installation. The fiber optic cable shall be installed using a powered pulling winch and hydraulic-powered assist pulling wheels. The maximum pulling force to be applied to the fiber optic cable shall be 600 pounds. Bends of small radii (less than 20 times the outside diameter of the cable) and twists that may damage the cable shall be avoided during cable placement. The cable shall be lubricated and placed in accordance with the cable manufacturer specifications. A pulling swivel break-away rated at 600 pounds shall be used at all times. All splices will be contained in a handhole or manhole.
