Bridging courses. Doctoral programme admission processes may include the requirement to pass specific bridging courses (depending on a student’s prior learning). Bridging courses will be based on official postgraduate courses offered by the University. For the purpose of determining fees and awarding grants and scholarships, bridging courses will be treated as doctoral-level training and will not be counted as part of the maximum period of study specified in Section 3.2 of these regulations. Enrolment for academic supervision (thesis supervision and tutoring) will be conditional on successful completion of any bridging courses required. The design of bridging courses must be specified in the doctoral programme validation report.
Bridging courses. We have a relatively large number of mature students in the undergraduate population, and recognise the importance of supporting them through the transition to higher education. Part of this effort consists of free week-long courses designed to prepare students for university study. These help students to prepare for university study and familiarise themselves with the facilities and support services available at SOAS, as well as giving them an opportunity to meet academics and other students. They are held in July and September for students entering SOAS in the next academic year.
Bridging courses. Bridging or prerequisite courses required to qualify for recognised training and skill development will not form part of the career path however, such courses will be supported within study leave guidelines.
Bridging courses. At the discretion of the tutor and/or the thesis advisor is to decide whether the doctoral candidate needs to complete specific bridging courses. If so, the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Program keeps track of the bridging courses completed by each student and will be the responsible to require their pass.
Bridging courses. Should it be found during the evaluation of an RPL application that an applicant needs to do a bridging course, ABC will assist the applicant to enroll for the relevant bridging course at an ACRP accredited provider of bridging courses. ABC may apply to ACRP to be accredited for presenting bridging courses, or may arrange with a bridging course provider that the relevant bridging courses be provided at a workshop arranged by ABC for its staff / associated practitioners / students. ACRP will provide ABC with a list of accredited bridging course providers and the accredited courses that are available.
