Bridge Design. 1. BRIDGE LAYOUT The Engineer shall prepare the bridge layout plan sheet. The Engineer shall determine the location of each soil boring needed for foundation design in accordance with the Geotechnical Manual. The Engineer shall submit each bridge layout early in the plan preparation process to obtain approval from the State. The Engineer shall comply with all relevant sections of the latest edition of the State’s Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) Bridge Design Manual, Bridge Project Development Manual, Bridge Detailing Manual, and AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and respective checklists. Each bridge layout sheet must include bridge typical sections, structural dimensions, abutment and bent locations, superstructure and substructure types. The existing and proposed headwater (HW) elevations for the 1% AEP and the design frequency shall be included in the profile view. The Engineer shall locate and plot all soil borings and utilities, show proposed retaining walls, and, for staged construction, indicate limits of existing bridge for removal and reconstruction.

Bridge Design a) The Engineer shall perform bridge design required for any roadway crossings to the proposed improvements to the existing channels and/or proposed channels of the Project. The design of these bridges shall conform to the Project design criteria required by the Owner (City, County, or State), of the associated -bridge structure and/or roadway, and the requirements set forth by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), "Standard Specifications for Highway Bridges" and Texas Department of Transportation Design Manual, latest editions. These designs shall in all respects combine the application of sound engineering principles with a high degree of economy, and shall be submitted to the applicable City, County, State, and/or Federal agencies for approval.
Bridge Design. This task describes work to complete base bridge contract documents, consisting of plans, specifications, calculations for Level 1 design criteria, and estimates for each bridge. Results/Deliverables The deliverables to be developed under this section are as follows: • Stage 1 o Level One Checklist and Computations o Design Information o Quantity Calculations and Preliminary Opinion of Probable Cost Preliminary Field Check Plans with the following modifications: o Incorporate Preliminary Field Check plans comments o Complete project-information boxes, including right-of-way project number and sheet numbers o Complete sheet-numbers cross references o Review plans against the checklist shown as IDM Figure 85-2F o Stage 3 Review Submission The Stage 3 plans shall be approximately 95% complete and include the following items: o Incorporation of PFC review comments o Final Plans Documentation o Plan Detail Sheets and associated tables o Temporary erosion control o Plan Bridge Sheets and associated tables ▪ Soil Boring Sheet ▪ Layout Sheet ▪ General Plan Sheet ▪ Wingwall and Headwall Detail Sheet o Level One Checklists and Design Computations o Unique and Recurring Special Provisions o Opinion of Probable Construction Cost o Permit drawing development and coordination o QA/QC o Tracings Plan Submission The design shall be progressed to 100% design level for this submission. The following shall be prepared for this submission: o Incorporation of Stage 3 review comments o Incorporation of Pavement Design o Final Tracings Documentation o Level One Checklists and Design Computations o Unique and Recurring Special Provisions o Opinion of Probable Construction Cost o QA/QC
Bridge Design. If necessary, design a bridge structure to cross potential wetlands along the proposed ROW alignment will be designed for HL-93 loading or greater. The design will include all supporting calculations for the structure including geometry, structural design, layout sheets and details. The bridge will be 4 lanes (two lane in each direction). We will also provide two (2) borings 80’ in depth for the bridge design. The fee for this item is included in the base geotechnical fee.
