Breathing Instructions. The participant should be told “to take another big breath in to fill up their lungs and then to blow all the air out as hard and fast as possible without moving their body and then to squeeze all their air out until they feel that their lungs are completely empty and then they should signal that they are empty and hold their breath”. This can be done by asking the patient to keep their toes apart at the beginning of the maneuver and to bring their toes together when they feel they are completely empty.
